AFFIRMATIONS

An affirmation is a strong, positive statement about something that is already so. It is a way of making what you are imagining in your mind “firm.” Most people will tell you “you are what you eat.” I believe, “You are what you think, and what you say, you do.”

Our minds are always thinking. We have a continuous dialogue of endless commentary about our life, our world, our problems and about other people. Many of these thoughts are like old tape recordings always playing the same old song that was written long ago and much of the information we are telling ourselves is self-defeating, such as “this is never going to work out for me because nothing good ever happens in my life.”

Affirmations are a way of make a shift in your thinking and can influence your life in a positive way. The words you choose are the seeds of your future realities. Words are powerful. The affirmation you choose for yourself should be strong and positive. The statement should be about something that is already true or has realistic potential for being so.

A favorite affirmation of mine is “I can I will succeed”. This statement is in my bones. I know this because whenever I begin to feel defeated, these words come into my consciousness effortlessly, like sun after rain, to help me get through whatever my endeavor.

When you create your own Affirmation make sure the phrase is:
     •   Short, specific and simple.
     •   It should be positive. Say what you want, not what you don’t want.

For example “I will not get sidetracked and get off course” Instead say
“I am in focus and in flow”. Keep it positive.
     •   Use the affirmation often. The magic happens when it becomes part of who you are.
     •   Always choose an affirmation that feels totally right for you.

You are full of potential so nurture yourself with encouragement and positive affirmations. Avoid the negative self talk that kills the spirit and feel good about the fact that no matter where you are now at this moment, you have the power to continue to make positive changes in your life. Affirm it to be so!
